Program

The scientific program of the Helmholtz Research School consists of weekly lectures and colloquia and infrequent events like lecture weeks, graduate days and a soft skills training.

Basic Lecture

Basic Lecture
A basic lecture is held during the regular terms of the Universities. This lecture shall provide an introduction to the scientific topics of the school and give general orientation for experimentalists and theorists on various aspects of the field.

Colloquium

Colloquium
A Helmholtz Colloquium is held in Frankfurt or at GSI every week during the regular terms of the Universities. Experts in the scientific field of the school discuss most recent results or provide insight in related topics.

Special Lectures

Selected special lectures are recommened to deepen the understanding of special aspects of the field.

Graduate School Days

Once per year all participants and members meet to present and discuss the current status of the thesis projects carried out in the school.

Lecture weeks

In spring and fall each year a dedicated lecture week will be organised. Participants and invited lecturers study together in a concentrated atmosphere, remote from the university hustle and bustle.

Power weeks

A Power Week is focused on a particular theory or experimental topic. In contrast to a lecture week it is not interdisciplinary and therefore allows discussions on a much deeper level. The target audience are people who are basically familiar with the topic but want to strengthen their understanding.

Helmholtz Soft Skill Program

Once per year the participants of the Research school will participate in a soft skill program organized by the Helmholtz Association.

Extras

The Helmholtz Research School includes extra events and initiatives that are not part of the regular program.
