Practical Information

Begin/End

The lecture week starts with a common dinner on Sunday evening at 18:00.
Checkin at Haus Humboldtstein is open at 17:00.
The lecture week will close after a common lunch on Thursday at about 13:30

Late arrivals

If you will arrive late please contact the coordinator in advance so key pick up can be arranged.

Venue

The lecture week will be at Haus Humboldtstein, 53424 Remagen/Rolandseck, directly at the Rhine river in an old mansion. The famous 'art train station' Rolandseck is located beneath the meeting site.

Travel

Travel will be organized individually. Please try to car pool to Rolandseck.
If somebody can offer a ride, please post a note to the H-QM mailing list.
by car: Directions are linked to this page, it's about 160 km from Frankfurt.
by train: If you can not find a ride, Rolandseck can be easily reached by train. Take a train to Bonn or Cologne and then a local train to Rolandseck. It's a 10 minute walk to the meeting site.

Accomodation

All participants will stay in single rooms with washing facilities.

Food

Special food requirements (vegetarian, other) will be arranged on the first evening.
Full board is included in the lecture week.

What to bring

Closing The lecture week will be very informal, so only casual attire necessary. On Wednesday afternoon weather permitting we will go on a hike in the nearby woods or take a boat tour on the Rhine river. Please plan accordingly.
Linen/towel The rooms are fully equipped, you don't have to bring anything

Internet

There is no internet connection in the rooms. A Hot-Spot from German Telecom is installed at Haus Humboldtstein. This wireless access can be used on own expense.

Presentations

If you are giving a presentation, a laptop and projector will be available. In addition flip charts can be used. As you might have noticed this time only 12 participants will give a talk. The others will get a chance at the fall lecture week.

Expenses

You only have to pay for the trip to and from Rolandseck. This will be reimbursed after the lecture week. There are no further local expenses to cover accomodation or the program. All meals are included.

Insurance

Though this trip will not generate any costs for your supervisor or group please do not forget to file a trip request so you are covered by insurance during the lecture week.

Leisure time

Haus Humboldtstein is offering a self organized bar (by us) in the evening with alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
