General information

This year's soft skill program will be organized by the Helmholtz Association as a 4-day joint seminar of all three Helmholtz research schools in Germany. To meet the high quality approach of the Helmholtz Association for this program the soft skill program will be organized in cooperation with the Imperial College in London.

Practical Information

Begin/End

The soft skill program starts with a common dinner on Tuesday evening at 18:30.
The soft skill program will close on Friday at about 15:30
We will travel as a group to London. Departure from Frankfurt airport as shown below.

Venue

The soft skill course will be held at Easthampstead Park Conference Centre close to London, GB. It is based within a Victorian Country Mansion and surrounded by 60 acres of parkland. This Jacobean style building with prominent features stands at the end of a half-mile, tree-lined driveway. In the Middle ages Easthampstead Park was part of Windsor Great Forest and reserved for Royal Hunting. The present mansion was completed in 1864 and is listed by the Department of the Environment as a building of historic and architectural interest.

Travel

We will travel as a group to London. Travel to Frankfurt airport is on individual basis. We will fly to London Heathrow and continue by bus. The flights are:

A charter bus is organized for transportation from London Heathrow airport to Easthampstead Park Conference Centre. The different groups meat in Heathrow at the official bus info in Terminal 1. _bus info_ in Terminal 1. A map can be found >here (location number 3 on the map). The bus will leave at 16:30.

If you have to go separate:
Travel by Car: Easthampstead Park Conference Centre is located midway between Bracknell and Wokingham, with good road links to the M4(J10) and M3(J3) motorways.
Travel by Train: The conference centre is 3 miles from either Bracknell or Wokingham stations.
Travel by Plane: The nearest airport is Heathrow, which is approximately 27 miles from the conference centre. Train links are available or a taxi will cost approximately 35-55 each way, depending on time of day, size of vehicle and waiting time.

Though this trip will not generate any costs for your supervisor or group please do not forget to file a trip request so you are covered by insurance during the lecture week.
