Result in Brief

The image on the left is the original image (381 KB) and the image on the right is the compressed one (15 KB).
(The point is that the image on the left you are right now viewing is compressed using standard JPEG method and the
loss of quality is not visible. Of course, image compression using Haar Wavelet is one of the simplest ways.)

The image is probably copyrighted. Unfortunately I don't know the owner of this photo but I think the usage is subject to fair use.
